The early season jumps feast that is the Cheltenham Open meeting is finally here.
The Cross Country is the official Friday highlight but we are really looking forward to two of the supporting races. In the Sharp Novices’ Hurdle – Dodging Bullets, Tominator, and River Maigue are set to clash – and the Steel Plate and Sections Novice Chase has Dynaste, Fingal Bay and Unioniste declared. We don’t think there have been better novice chase or hurdle races so far this season.
Saturday sees the clash of Grands Crus, Hunt Ball, Al Ferof, Walkon and 16 others in the Paddy Power Gold Cup taking centre stage.
The Racing Post Hurdle is Sunday’s official feature but the return of Sprinter Sacre in the Shloer Chase will vy for top billing. Captain Conan puts his Arkle (or Jewson) credentials on the line in the Grade 2 chase on an interesting supporting card.
We have added stats and trends for the graded races within the Cheltenham Festival Section.
