Charlie Hall Chase Trends

The Charlie Hall Chase is a Grade 2 race run at Wetherby Racecourse – normally on the last weekend in October or first in November.

The intended date of the 2013 Charlie Hall Chase is 2 November 2013. The Paul Nicholl’s trained Silviniaco Conti began his 2012-13 campaign by winning here and subsequently doubled up in the Grade1 Betfair Chase at Haydock before tipping up when seemingly travelling well in the 2013 Gold Cup.

About The Charlie Hall Chase

It is a 3 mile 1 furlong chase and is usually contested by horses hoping to be competitive in Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Recent winners have been just below the very top level of staying chasers and future Gold Cup winners are more likely to be found running in the Betfair Chase at Haydock. In all four horse have won both the Charlie Hall and the Cheltenham Gold Cup but never in the same season. Davy Lad won the race in 1975 and the Gold Cup two years later. Burrough Hill Lad, See More Business and Forgive and Forget all landed the bigger prize first.
