Last years winner St Nicholas Abbey is the top rated and a warm favourite. O’Brien has an excellent record in this race winning it in four of the last five years. He had no runner in 2009 ! Only three favorites have won in the last decade.
Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso has been withdrawn and just six remain in the final declared field. Masked Marvel is closest to St Nicholas Abbey on ratings but Beaten Up is second in the betting market. Given AP O’Brien’s record it is hard to oppose St Nicholas Abbey on a stats basis but with only one victory, at the Breeders Cup, from his six runs since winning this last year Sir Nicholas Abbey isn’t one we would be backing at the forecast odds. We will sit this one out !
