Mick Fitzgerald rode 14 Cheltenham Festival winners between 1994 and 2006. His second Cheltenham winner, Rough Quest, went on to win the Grand National in 1996.
Mick got the Champion Chase/Gold Cup double up on Callequiname and See More Business in 1999 when riding for trainer Paul Nicholls. Fitzgerald was leading rider in 1999 and again in 2000. All four winners in 2000 came for Nicky Henderson and included the World Hurdle on Bacchanal. Mick continued to ride for Nicky Henderson until 2008 when an injury incurred in a fall at Aintree forced his retirement. Mick won 1295 races under rules in the UK and a further 15 in Ireland giving him a career total on 1310 wins.
