Fairyhouse Easter Festival Meeting: Sunday Feature Race
Gilgamboa under Tony McCoy was the winner of the 2015 Ryanair Gold Cup.
Ryanair have replaced Powers as sponsor of the Grade 1 2 mile 4 furlong Novice Chase run at Fairyhouse on Easter Sunday. Rebel Fitz won the 2014 renewal under jockey Barry Geraghty for trainer Michael Winters. Notable horses on the roll of honour include Arkle, Captain Christy, Dorans Pride and Like-a-butterfly,
Willie Mullins trained horses had dominated the 2015 entries but the race continues to allude him. Mullins has never won this race. His stable jockey Ruby walsh has been successful on two occasions – in 2002 on Big-and-bold for trainer Ger Lyons and in 1999 on Rince Ri for his father.
