Ascot Long Walk Meeting

We had more clues on the Road to Cheltenham last week with graded races at Cheltenham, Lingfield, Doncaster and Navan. Tom Segal spoke to Racing Post TV about the horses that caught his eye last weekend ( he likes Zarkandar !) :

Looking ahead to this week the rescheduled Peterborough Chase is due to take at Exeter on Thursday and then the action takes us to Ascot for their two day Long Walk meeting.

The loss of Big Bucks to injury has shaken up the 2013 World Hurdle market and taken much of the gloss off Saturday’s card. Last years World Hurdle third Smad Place is the new favourite for Saturday’s feature event. The Ladbroke Hurdle – now Europes most valuable handicap hurdle – is as always a puzzle. We have some clues here.

There are two Grade 2’s on Ascot’s Friday card with the potential clash of Arkle market leaders Simonsig and Overturn in the Noel Novice Chase a mouthwatering prospect.

Make a Stand and Monsignor were previous winners of the Kennel Gate Hurdle on Friday and there are plenty of promising types amongst this years entry.
