Red Rum Handicap Chase 2015
The Red Rum Handicap Chase is a handicap chase run on the opening day of the Grand National meeting over a distance of two miles.
The race remembers the Ginger McCain trained legendary three time Grand National winner.
In terms of its conditions it is effectively the Aintree equivalent of the Cheltenham Festival’s Grand Annual Chase. 8 of the last 16 winners ran in the Cheltenham race.
The 2013 winner the Paul Nicholls trained, Edgardo Sol ran at Cheltenham but had a campaign mixing hurdles and chases and actually ran in the County Hurdle. The horse ended a 20 horse, 14 year, losing run for Nicholls in the race.
