The Grade 2 December Novices Chase is the only graded jumps race at Lingfield.
The 2012 renewal has been sponsored by RSA as they map the road to the Grade 1, three mile RSA Chase at the Cheltenham festival.
Although the fixture has suffered from cancellations – there have been just 4 renewals in the last decade – the roll of honour includes progressive novices such as L’ami, Verasi and Burton Port.
