Most Improved, 2nd favourite for the 2000 Guineas will miss the Craven Stakes today. The Lawman colt was found to be slightly lame on his near foreleg as he was being prepared to leave for Newmarket early this morning.
Manton’s vets were in attendance before 7.30 a.m. investigating the source of Most Improved’s lameness. Their diagnosis will be crucial, but trainer Brian Meehan is optimistic that it will be only a temporary setback.
Brian told his website :
“Obviously at this stage his participation is open to question. We will closely monitor the situation in conjunction with the vets, and as soon as they have cleared him, we will keep everyone informed.”
The 2000 Guineas market is likely to get a shake up in any event.
